If a safari is what you're after but you'd rather not go to Africa to experience it, the Great Adventure and Wild Safari in New Jersey might suit your fancy. This is the largest drive-thru safari outside of Africa.
This is a 350-acre wildlife preserve and gives home to over 1,200 animals, including many endangered species. The safari will take you on a 4.5 mile automobile trail which allows the animals to walk right up to your car. This is a wonderful experience for adults and children of all ages as there is much to be learned here about conservation through a hands-on experience.
Some of the animals encountered are: brown bears, giraffes, elephants, camels, lions, and kangaroos.
